Cincinnati MasterCraft – Thank you for the excellent experience! I have been around boating all my life, my father had a boat for a while as a child and many good friends had boats through my 20’s. I purchased my first boat in 2004, Cobalt 200, not knowing much about MC or inboards in general from Hern Marine. While the Cobalt is a fantastic boat for and I/O and served me very well for 4 years, my kids began wakeboarding and really wanted to get into surfing, which of course you can’t do behind and I/O. While on vacation at Norris Lake we had a chance to spend some time on a MC X2, wow, this totally changed my view on I/O boats vs. Inboards and really set it in my sites to investigate inboards and MasterCraft.
I began doing research on Inboards in the fall of ’07 and planned on a purchase probably for ’09. I went to the boat show, winter of ’08 and found out that Hern Marine had dropped MC and that a new small dealership was starting up “Cincinnati MasterCraft”. After looking at all the other brands and research, spending time in all the brands, one common thing was apparent; MC is the best of the best! Certainly this comes at a bit of a premium, but trust me down the road pays exceptional dividends. I ended up making my decision and purchased the boat in the spring of ’08 and actually ended up with one of the first ‘09’s off of the production line, delivered in July ‘08. Cincinnati MasterCraft, also helped with the sale of my Cobalt, I ended up selling the boat via my Craig’s list posting, they handled all the paper work/transfer etc. at no charge.
To anyone reading this and need any reassurance as to the MC brand or Cincinnati MasterCraft as the real deal, please focus on this statement. Since owning this boat, (4 seasons & 300 Hours Later) one common theme from experienced and novices alike, they all comment something like this after a day on the water, “Man this is a nice boat, plenty of room, we had a blast, please invite us back again” The simple fact is this, MC boats perform over the long hull. We have put this boat through the paces, skiing, wakeboarding, surfing and even a little tubing and 4 years later everything still works, no major issues whatsoever! Certainly, I take great care of my investment, but with a little love and wipe down at the end of the day, my boat performs and looks as good as the day she was delivered, this is a testament to MC quality in workmanship, the gel coat is outstanding inside and out, vinyl still shines with no rips or tears at the seams etc. Just ask around to other brand owners after a 4 year experience and tell me an MC is not worth a little premium in purchase price.
From a service perspective, these guys really know their stuff about inboards; I personally am a bit of a gear head and like doing my own service, which is minimal on an MC. (Oil change, Winterize etc.) They have always been there to take my call, explain any questions I have about servicing my boat, and if I ever get tired of doing it myself or feel I am in over my head, I would have no problem dropping my boat off for them to service.
From an I/O convert, if you are in the market and trying to decide on an MC over any other brand, give me a call, I will never own any other brand of boat, period!
